How we use artificial intelligence (AI) to support your healthcare
Why we're using AI:
At our surgery, we are always looking for ways to improve the care we provide. We now use trusted forms of artificial intelligence (AI) to help our team work more efficiently, spot important patterns in patient data, and support clinical decisions. AI is not replacing your doctor or nurse — it's a tool that helps us provide safer, faster, and more personalised care.
What this means for you as a patient:
Better support for our staff: AI can help with tasks like summarising notes, highlighting possible diagnoses, or organising appointment schedules. This gives our doctors and nurses more time to focus on you.
Faster responses and follow-ups: AI tools may help us flag urgent issues more quickly or provide reminders for follow-up care, test results, or medication checks.
Improved safety and accuracy: AI can help double-check information, suggest treatment options based on the latest guidance, and reduce the chances of something being missed.
What AI does not do:
AI does not replace the medical judgment of our team.
You will always be seen or reviewed by a qualified healthcare professional.
AI tools are used to support, not make, medical decisions.
Your data and privacy:
We take your privacy seriously. Any AI systems we use are carefully checked to ensure they meet strict NHS standards. Your personal health information is only used where necessary, and always in line with UK data protection laws.
Transparency and your rights:
We believe in being open. If AI is used in your care in a way that affects decisions, we’ll let you know. You have the right to ask questions about how your data is used and to opt out of data-sharing for research or planning purposes.
If you have any concerns or would like to know more, please speak to a member of our team. We're happy to explain.
